33 Days to Morning Glory

Consecration to Jesus through Mary
Part of the City of Hull Evangelisation Project

Background

Saint Charles Church is one of the churches in Kingston-upon-Hull which is involved in the city-wide evangelisation project.

Over the past few years there has been many events and initiatives. For example: a mission given by the Sion Community, a retreat given by the former gangster John Pridmore and last year a good contingent from Hull headed over to Liverpool for the Adoremus Eucharistic Congress. All of these events have had the aim of bringing each of us closer to Christ and as a consequence bringing others to know Him too.

This year we are turning to Our Blessed Mother in the awareness that 2020 sees the rededication of England to Our Lady of Walsingham as Our Lady’s Dowry. As a city we are going to join together in the ‘DIY retreat’ 33 Days to Morning Glory by Fr Michael Gaitley (a priest of the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception).

Starting on the 20th February, all those who wish to, can follow along in the comfort of their own homes and then at the end of March gather for the day of consecration on the Solemnity of the Annunciation at Saint Charles Church for the Mass of the solemnity with the Consecration included.

Free copies of 33 days are available at all the churches of the city, simply pick up a copy and join in. There’s approximately one page to read each day which consists of a reflection and a short prayer.

Why Do this?

Saint Louis Marie de Montfort talks of Marian Consecration as the ‘quickest, surest and easiest way to holiness.’ Pope Saint John Paul II described his Marian consecration as a ‘decisive turning point in his life. If we want to give our  relationship with God a boost, asking Our Blessed Mother to help us with that is the best way. JPII also referred to her as the ‘Star of the New Evangelisation’ and so we invoke her in the knowledge that it is her great desire for her Son to be known and loved.

What you’ll Need:
